A vintage which only succeeded through very strict selection in the vineyard, and painstaking care during the vinification. This is a very elegant wine with excellent finesse.

Normal seasonal weather.

A very warm May. June humid and cool. Flowering was either rapid and even, or drawn out and uneven depending on the area. Some pollination problems. Mid point of flowering June 6th

A warm and fairly rainy July. August was marked by an increase in temperatures, then the arrival of violent storms. Mid point of changing colour August 14th.

Dry weather, then alternating between dry and rainy periods. Harvest from September 23rd to October 7th.

Clive Coates - The Vine - January 1997
"Good colour. Lovely nose. Real class and personality here. Very good ripe fruit. Ample, gentely oaky, ripe and generously fruity. Long and complex. This has a lovely long elegant finish. Excellent fruit. Very fine. 18.5/20."

James Seely - Great Bordeaux Wines - November 1997
"Lighter red than preceding wines [other vintages of Pichon]. Nice, uncomplicated bouquet of black fruits. Lots of up-front fruit, lacks length, but very good for 1992; to drink now and over the next two or three years."
