| Robert Parker - Bordeaux - November 1998 |
|
"Pichon Lalande's 1991 is among only a handful of 1991s worthy of being the "wine of the vintage". Only 30% of the harvest went into the final wine, resulting in a deeper coloured, richer, more concentrated and complex wine than the 1990…The 1991, which possesses plenty of tannin, displays an opaque, deep ruby/purple color and a sweet nose of chocolate, cedar, and ripe, plummy, blackcurrant fruit. Round, medium to full bodied, and opulent (atypical for a 1991), this wine finishes with considerable length and authority. 89/100."

| Serena Sutcliffe - Tasting notes - April 1999 |

"The real bouquet of a grand vin. Deep, aromatically intense (the mark of those few excellent 1991s, all on the best terroirs) - like spiced hot chocolate! Blackcurrant comes through. Almost smoky. Wonderful fruit in the middle - damsons and a touch of prunes. The finish is not mega-long, so it is perfect drinking now and for the next 10 years. A remarkable achievement. Aftertaste of roast lamb and redcurrant jelly - try the wine against the real thing!"

| James Seely - Great Bordeaux Wines - November 1997 |

"Nice deep garnet. Bouquet good, with ripe fruit and a bit of damp undergrowth. A pleasing mouthful of summery fruits, raspberries and strawberries, and surprising structure. Will train on."
