| Robert Parker - Bordeaux - November 1998 |

"Undoubtedly a top success for the vintage, Pichon-Lalande's 1979 exhibits a dark garnet color, with some amber at the edge. It offers a fragrant bouquet of cedar, roasted herbs, and cassis. Rich, with medium body, well-integrated tannin, and some acidity, this is the quintessentially elgant style of Bordeaux that is found nowhere else in the world. Anticipated maturity: Now-2004. 90/100"

"Concentrated bouquet of ripe berry, sweet spice, herbs and an old dusty note. Layered palate with tart berry, cherry, and spice flavors. Spicy, leathery finish. 17.5/20"

| Clive Coates - Grands Vins - 1995 |

"Full, vigorous colour. Only barely mature. Attractive nose. Firmer and fresher than the 1981: more structure, higher acidity. Good Cabernet fruit. Rich, but a little hard at first. More generous on the follow-through and the finish is ample and balanced. Medium-full. Good grip. This is fine for the vintage and will last well."
