Château
Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalandes has, for several years,
participated in the pruning competitions organized by the wine-growers
of the Gironde and of France.
Regularly well placed in these competitions (Pierre Blanchard 1st
in the competitions of 21/02/98 and “Secateur d’Or”;
André Poirier 1st in the overall ranking in 97/98, and regularly
in the first ten and well placed at the national level), the vineyard
workers of Pichon display the spirit that animates them : enthousiasm,
participation in the promotion of our profession, motivation, fighting
spirit, a sense of striving and competitiveness and also of conviviality
as these events always end with a typically Gallic feast.
Michel
Gaudet, the vineyard manager of Pichon is President of the Jury
for the Pruning Contests in the year 2000. This year again, a team
of vineyard workers of both sexes took part in the pruning contests.
André
Poirier came 5th, Stéphane Blanchard 8th and the Pichon
team was classed 2nd at the end of the first contest. Two contests
remain for the team to improve their already remarkable achievement.
